New line "The Pink Triangle" already making waves in Denver!
02/02/09
Forrest at work in his studio on his first painting for his new line, "The Pink Triangle".
Besides that though, I want to capture the emotion in the community. There is almost a "purity" to the love between two women that is not scene anywhere else. I want to create this love visually in a beautiful way, illustrating the elegance, passion and purity of Lesbian relations. What I do NOT want to do is create porn. It seems Lesbian love is always depicted in an overly sexual, erotic way... this is not my goal whatsoever. Like I said, I want to illustrate the beauty of this community, not sexually exploit it. Not to say that this series won't delve into some erotic passion... but it will certainly be tasteful.
My plan is to complete at least 15 paintings for this series by summer's end and coordinate with a non-profit transgendered organization to have a large party opening to promote and sell the line, for which the non-profit would get 50% of sales. This way the community could benefit as well!
Here is what people are already saying about the Pink Triangle:
"I like how you put that being a lesbian is not for entritaniment of men its not to exploited as porn there is alot of feelings and emotions behind lesbian love it is more then just 2 women having sex it is a deep and meaningful love that we believe a man could never give us.
I have been with men at one point in my life and the connection between 2 women is so much more it is emotional it is competive, its is like cloud 9 even when we fight but over all i got to say i like your work i think you are very talented and i cant wait to see more!"
" Not that you need luck, but best of luck on your new line. I think it is a wonderful topic to explore and as your first painting shows, I think you capture it beautifully. I also like how you were straight forward and true about your goals and intentions for this series of paintings. There is something not easily described in the way women love each other.
Can't wait to see what you do next! "
"Beautiful work! You definitely have my support! :) Thank you for wanting and willing to represent us lovingly, gracefully and tastefully."
"I grow tired of artists portraying love between women as an all out pleasure scene for men. So thank you."
"I myself am a lesbian and I think this is one of the best portrayls of the lesbian community I have seen.....and thats saying something being as I worked with a number of artist, including the porn industry.
Very nice!!!"
And the emails and comments keep coming! I hope that this new line makes a great impact on the community and creates awareness of the realness of lesbian love, outside the grips of pornography.
